ENERGIESTRO WINS EDF PULSE CONTEST 2015

EDFPULSE
ENERGIESTRO took part in the  »Science » category, devoted to energy storage with its  »Solar Storage Wheel » (project VOSS).  EDF received over 200 projeccts.  The process of selecting the two finalists lasted several months and culminated on March 10 2015 with the presentation of the two projects before a panel of experts at EDF headquarters.  The other finalist was the  »Reverse Electrolysis » project submitted by the German company Sunfire.  The two projects were judged by he public who voted on line between April 7 and May 3.  EDF recorded 240,000 votes.

The name of the winner was announced on June 4 during a ceremony at the  »Palais de Tokyo » in Paris, in the presence of Axelle Lemaire, Secretary of State for Internet Technology and Jean-Bernard Levy, Chairman of EDF.  Having convinced the experts VOSS has also caught public attention, since it obtained 71% of the votes, thanks to an innovative breakthrough.

By replacing traditional materials for the flywheel, (steel or carbon fiber, both too expensive, with concrete, (much cheaper) ENERGIESTRO makes it possible for the first time to store intermittent renewable energy, thus removing the last obstacle to its widespread use.

ENERGIESTRO selected among the 4 finalists in the “Science & Energy” category of the EDF PULSE AWARDS 2015.

The EDF PULSE AWARDS rewards each year the most innovative ideas relating to electricity. In 2015 it focuses on energy storage. ENERGIESTRO showed its VOSS Solar Storage Flywheel project, which has been selected among the 4 nominees in the “Science” category:

ENERGIESTRO IN THE WINNERS OF THE WORLD INNOVATION CONTEST 2030

The winners of the Global Innovation Contest were received on March 20, 2014 at the Hotel Matignon (his official residence) by Prime Minister M. Jean-Marc Ayrault, in the presence of Mme Anne Lauvergeon, Chair of the Innovation 2030 Committee, M. Arnaud Montebourg, Minister for industry Recovery, Mme Fleur Pellerin, delegate Minister for SMEs, Innovation and the Digital Economy and Mme Geneviève Fioraso, Minister of Higher Education and Research.
ENERGIESTRO won in the « energy storage » category for its VOSS project: « Solar Storage wheel » and was represented at Matignon by the director of the project, André Gennesseaux. The prize obtained is a € 200,000 grant.
The objective of the project is to dramatically reduce the cost of storage of solar energy through the flywheel technology developed by ENERGIESTRO.
